This highly-acclaimed sci-fi production was commissioned in 1991 by Devon County Council to alert children to the environmental dangers of wasting energy and to encourage them to realise that they have the power to help save their planet. Closely linked to the English National Curriculum, the play uses puppets and magical dramatic effects to create an adventure in which the children alone can rescue Astra and her spaceship from the evil Waste Monster.
Extensive accompanying project packs available, linking the show to the English National Curriculum at Keystage 2.

'Astra and the Waste Monster' has become a central part of our awareness raising activities for 8 to 11 year olds in Dorset. We now tour the show every two years. The schools look forward to it, the children look forward to it and, I must admit, so do I!
This is a powerful and exciting drama that really motivates children to take energy waste seriously."
"First class entertainment enthralling and highly entertaining. The children were spellbound and now are extremely good at closing the classroom door and turning off the lights when we go out!"
